We're very proud to announce that our ForesTree Project's first planting day will be helping Tauranga City Council with their development of K Valley.
Kopurererua Valley Reserve, or K Valley, runs alongside Takitimu Drive (the Toll Road section), and is one of Tauranga’s largest reserves. It has a popular cycleway, and provides a variety of different experiences, from farmland to native bush land and ponds.
We've funded and will be planting 100-200 Kahikatea (White Pine) in the valley on 7th September 2019. Kahikatea grow to heights of over 30 metres and are the tallest of New Zealand's forest trees.
This project is part of the Council's plan to reclaim the low-lying wetlands in the reserve.
Can you help?
- Date: 7th September 2019
- Time: 10am till about 1pm
- Location: We'll meet on Takitimu Drive (the Toll road)
- What you'll do: No special skills required. We'll just be digging holes and dropping in trees.
- What you'll need: Gumboots. (It will get muddy) We'll supply the spades, bottled water and shout a light lunch at the end.
Feel free to invite friends or family. I'll be bringing my fiancee and two teens along. It's a great way to do something small to help create a better environment for us all.
If you can help, please email me with your name, mobile number and how many people you'll be bringing. (We need all the help we can get, but limited spaces are available)
Should be fun!
