Get your Brake System inspected and adjusted this season to maximise your stopping efficiency in wet conditions.
A warrant of fitness inspection is generally only an efficiency check on the day of the inspection. An inspector is not allowed to remove any item of your vehicle for closer inspection and is therefore only able to see limited parts of your brake system. Removal of the wheels and drums will allow a complete inspection of your brake inspection.
If you are experiencing a shudder through your steering wheel or seat when you are braking, then your vehicle may require a disk rotor skim, inspection and brake adjustment. This shudder or vibration will be more noticeable when braking from higher speeds.
Bake fluid is also a very important part of the system and should be replaced every 2 year s or 30,000kms, whichever comes first. The issue is that old brake fluid may not be safe if moisture contamination is above a certain level. The moisture lowers the boiling point, ultimately reducing stopping distance performance and rusting your brake system from the inside out.
