ALL-NEW MITSUBISHI TRITON 4WD
The only ute loaded like this.
All-new Triton is the only ute to bring you a 10-year warranty. From the ground up it’s been designed for reliability and durability. Driving is a dream, thanks to a class leading turning circle, Hill Start Assist and an advanced new 4WD system. Safety’s taken care of with the highest safety 5 star Safety rating thanks to 7 airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag on very model, Active Stability Control, Active Traction Control and Trailer Stability Assist.
Hard work is no sweat with the choice of 6-speed manual and 5-speed auto, increased power from the new 2.4L diesel engine and a tray that’s 10% bigger. Despite the rugged new good looks and the power to back it up, Triton’s very smooth and quiet on and off road with greatly reduced noise, vibration and harshness levels.
All-New Triton, All New Engine
Triton’s always been known for bringing the power when it counts. The brand new 2.4L all-alloy DiD MIVEC engine boosts the same torque output on all modes. That’s a massive 437Nm of trailer-pulling, hill climbing grunt.
At lower revs torque is smoother for better control and increased traction in off-road conditions. Power is up but fuel consumption is down by up to 21%, just 7.0 – 7.6L per 100km* across the range.
Triton 4WD Safety & Security
Mitsubishi All Terrain Technology (MATT)
Developed for our rally vehicles and refined ever since, MATT lets you get to grips with any surface. Triton is known for its 4WD system. The GLS model has an advanced 4WD system that can be driven in 4WD on tar-seal. This gives you maximum amount of grip and, of course, safety.
The new off road mode gives you great performance in the rough, the gravel, the snow or a mixture of them all. For better towing there’s now a Trailer Stability Assist system.

Active Traction Control
Active Traction Control (ATC) helps maintain the car’s traction on the most slippery or rugged surfaces by automatically controlling the engine’s output – so driving wheels are prevented from spinning. Sensing loss of traction in any wheel ATC applies braking force to it and sends extra power and torque to other wheels with traction, to keep your Mitsubishi Triton moving.
Active Stability Control
Active Stability Control provides the driver with greater control in tough cornering situations, reducing the chance of under-steer or over-steer by adjusting engine power and applying the brakes independently on each wheel. The result – a tighter, safer driving line.
Multi-Mode Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
Triton’s intelligent 4 channel, 4-sensor braking system monitors different wheel speed and activates brakes to individual wheels when required. It allows you to keep manoeuvrability under heavy braking and slippery road conditions.
EBD detects when you are carrying passengers or heavier loads and automatically increases rear-braking force on demand.
Trailer Stability Assist system
You can use Triton’s improved towing weight safely thanks to Mitsubishi’s Trailer Stability Assist system. If the trailer steps out of line, sensors detect sway, brakeforce is applied to the appropriate wheel and engine power is adjusted to stabilise the motion. The stop lamp is illuminated while the brake control of the Trailer Stability Assist system operates.
Every model of Triton gives you 7 airbags, which include driver, passenger, side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated to accommodate a child seat.
Here’s another innovative feature that’s there just in case. If you unintentionally hit your accelerator pedal as well as your brake pedal in an emergency situation, the new SmartBrake system sports the error, cancels out the message from the gas pedal and puts full concentration on your braking.
All models feature central locking and engine imobilisers for convenience and real security. Just one press of a button on the key ring and all doors are unlocked. GLS makes the working day even easier with the addition of keyless operating system.
Sports Bucket Seats Up Front
Another significant upgrade is the new front sports bucket seats on every model of Triton. They’re safer than bench seats and much nicer to ride in. They also protect their occupants with airbags. All seats across the range have 3-point seat belts. There are even front and rear seat belt warning lights to make sure those little ones are buckled up.
Even under load Triton gives you plenty of stopping power. The ABS braking system with EBD features large ventilated discs at the front and drums at the rear.
As with every aspect of the all-new Triton, safety is improved, achieving a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating on all models. A tough anti-corrosion steel chassis, combined with Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body design (RISE), makes Triton stiff and safer in a collision. RISE means the high-strength steel cabin keeps its shape and directs the energy of an impact away from occupants. It also means a lighter kerb weight which means impressive fuel economy, improved handling and greater payloads.
All models boast ASC and ATC, and surround all occupants with 7 airbags. The Multi-Mode ABS and EBD stop you locking up in tight situations. Wellside models features high-mounted rear stoplights, keeping you safe from the guy behind you. In emergency braking situations over 55km/h, the Emergency Stop Signals system instantly activates hazard lights to warn others. The speed limiter slows you down if you’re getting near your preset speed limit. The new ISOFIX system on double cabs is the safety way to secure child seats in the back.
Off - Road / On Road
All new Triton is more than just a hardworking ute. It’s one of the most capable 4WD’s you can point up a slippery hill. It has a tighter turning circle than all others and can clamber over pretty much anything, thanks to very high approach, departure and ramp-over angles.
On the road Triton is a breeze. The powerful new turbo-diesel and exceptional manoeuvrability make driving a pleasure. With improved fuel economy and emissions it also plays nicely with the environment.
Whatever the task at hand, there’s a gearbox to match. There’s the new 6-speed manual transmission, which gives you precise control of the vehicle and whatever’s on the back. Or there’s the 5-speed automatic with sports mode. Sports mode lets the automatic function like a manual, but without a clutch. This makes for a near-instant gear change, great on slippery surfaces or when there’s a load on. We have taken the proven heavy-duty automatic transmission out of the Pajero for full torque across the Triton range. Whichever box you choose, you’ll have serious towing and off-road capability on tap.
New Trailer Stability Assist and Hill Start Assist systems are a real help when things get tricky. The low range is now 25% lower and when you’re crawling on a loose surface in low range, you’ll appreciate the difference.
Easy Select 4WD on Triton GLX
Like the Super Select 4WD system, Easy Select allows you to change smoothly between 2WD high range and 4WD high range traction modes on the move with one quick turn on the new dial. The 3 settings give you ultimate economy, from 2WD right down to serious stump-pulling low-range 4WD, which is now enhanced with new capabilities.
Triton GLS gives you the combined 4WD know-how of a long line of world-beating rally vehicles. Better yet, it’s not just in the mud where it shines, because Triton is one of the few utes that can be driven in 4WD on tarseal. This give you the maximum amount of grip and, and of course, safety.
Super Select 4WD
Super Select 4WD on GLS
2H (2WD high range)
For regular road driving, this setting gives you power, solid handling and the best economy.
4H (full-time 4WD)
If the weather, or the road itself is not too flash, the ability to drive in high range 4WD is a serious safety boost. The new off-road mode gives you added grip and stability in rough conditions.
4HLC (4WD high range)
When you’re off-road, this setting distributes power to all four wheels equally.
4LLC (4WD Low Range with Locked Centre Differential)
When the track runs out, or disappears beneath the mud, this mode will make you glad you’re in a Triton. It sends all of Triton’s power and traction to the wheels. If you try this system and still want more climbing ability, might we suggest a helicopter.
