The ASX has always been highly regarded for its good looks, versatility and performance. Now enjoy the connectivity and design of the ASX 2WD XLS, now with the stunning features of the Black Edition
Power and Safety
Under the bonnet
The smooth and powerful MIVEC engine
2WD ASX models feature the smooth power and welcome economy of the 2.0L MIVEC petrol engine. It’ll drink just 7.6L/100km and produce only 172g/km of emissions. It’ll also whisk a full load up a hill or make short work of a long drive.
Fuel economy
- The 2WD model delivers impressive fuel economy and emissions at a low 7.6L/100km *and 172 g/km respectively
*DISCLAIMER: The fuel economy figure gives you an indication of the fuel consumption based on international rolling road test-lab drive cycle testing - UN ECE R101 (European NEDC), ADR (Australia), and JC08 (Japan). These tests are designed to test fuel consumption in lab conditions to make comparisons easier. Actual fuel economy will depend on a wide range of factors including your driving style and habits, speed and distance travelled, vehicle load, tyre pressure and level of maintenance.
Transmission
The key to smooth, economical driving is choosing the perfect gear. On 2WD models, the 6-speed INVECS III transmission does all that for you. It uses a clever CVT mechanism to keep the engine in the optimal balance between performance and efficiency.
Safety
Peace of mind every time you sit behind the wheel of the ASX. The ASX features several important safety innovations to protect you and your passengers.
5 Star ANCAP Safety Rating (2WD model tested)
- Safety is paramount in the ASX. The security of dual – stage front airbags for the driver (including driver’s knee) and passenger further enhanced with side and curtain airbags comes standard on all models.
- RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) technology designed to minimise injuries in a collision.
- Three-point Emergency Reactor (ELR) seat belts are standard for all 5 passengers.
- The outer seats in the second row are designed for quick, safe attachment of an ISO-FIX-compliant child seat.
Ride and Handling
Multi – Mode Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) and Mechanical Brake Assist
This allows you to manoeuvre around objects under heavy braking conditions. ASX’s intelligent 4-channel, 4 sensor braking system works in conjunction with the drive mode to monitor different wheel speeds and activate brakes to individual wheels when required to deliver superior control.
Mechanical Brake Assist increases the brake force during emergency braking situations to reduce the stopping distance.
Active Stability Control (ASC)
Maintains stability and control when cornering, by automatically recognising under-steer and over-steer. It applies brakes to the appropriate wheel to keep you online through corners.
Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)
This technology reduces stopping distances by detecting passengers or heavier loads and automatically increases rear – braking force.
Smart Brake
Here's another innovative feature that's there just in case. If you unintentionally hit your accelerator pedal as well as your brake in an emergency situation, the new SmartBrake system spots the error, cancels out the message from the gas pedal and puts full concentration on your braking.
Hill Start Assist
This technology makes it easier to start off a steep uphill slope by preventing the vehicle from rolling backwards. It maintains the braking force for two seconds while you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator.
Active Traction Control – ATC
Helps you maintain traction on the most slippery or rugged of surfaces. This intelligent system automatically controls the engine output, so driving wheels are prevented from spinning. Sensing loss of traction in an independent wheel, it applies braking force to that wheel and sends extra power and torque to other wheels with traction to keep you moving.

Technology and Convenience
SUV versatility with car-like comfort and luxury
High Ride Height
With SUV like ride height, the ASX allows its driver superior visibility and ease of access in and out of the vehicle without the bulk of the traditional SUV.
One touch Start
Combined with Mitsubishi’s keyless operating system, the one touch start system allows you to start driving without even taking the key from your pocket.
Tilt and Telescopic Steering Column and Electronic Power Steering
Tilt and telescopic steering column offers the driver the flexibility of adjusting the steering column to suit their favoured driving position.
Electronic Power Steering takes the effort out of driving by providing steering assistance. At low speeds the ESP is light and easy, as speed increases steering becomes solid, delivering a more controlled driving experience.
Cargo room
With up to 416 litres of available cargo capacity inside the ASX 2WD models, ASX lets you carry whatever you need. The easy-opening tailgate is wide enough to provide ample space for even the bulkiest items, and the low floor height makes it convenient to move heavy cargo in and out.
Light Weight Impact Resistant Front Guard
The new impact resistance outer panel reduces the overall vehicle weight and is specially designed to crumple on impact, reducing vehicle damage during collision. Also great in locations such as supermarket car parks, the new front guards minimise damage from small impact items like shopping trolleys.
Keyless Operating System (KOS)
A keyless operating system allows the car to be unlocked, started, stopped and relocked again without the use of a traditional key. The key gaurd must be within 70cm of the front doors or tailgate for operating.
Truly connected with SDA
Every model features the new Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA). This system integrates communication, music and map apps from your compatible Smartphone.
Simply click in the USB cable and phone calls, navigation, music and messages are right there on the built-in display screen. Voice command lets you keep your focus on the road, and maps are automatically updated from your phone. You can also play music and make calls via Bluetooth™
