All New Pajero Sport continues the legacy with more style, comfort, technology and everything else you want in an SUV.
Plenty of Power
All the power you’ll need comes from the 2.4L DiD engine which produces 135kW of power and 437Nm of torque. Trailer, boat, horse float, whatever, just hook it up and go.
8-Speed transmission, total control
Get total control of the vehicle and maximum output from the engine with the new 8-speed automatic transmission.
Stay connected like never before
The new Smartphone Link Display Audio integrates your communication, music and map apps. It’s compatible with iPhone or Android, and it’s on every model.
Despite the healthy reserves of power, new Pajero Sport gives you 8.0L per 100km economy, thanks to the many efficiency systems on board.
Styling is a strong feature of the Pajero Sport, right down to the 18” alloy wheels, which gives the vehicle a confident look.
The next level of safety
Pajero Sport VRX brings you advanced new safety features: Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning and a birds eye view from the Multi Around Monitor. All models also carry a 5 Star ANCAP Safety Rating.
The same unbeatable warranty
New Pajero Sport comes with the supreme peace of mind offered by New Zealand’s best new car warranty and customer care: Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage and 10 year warranty.
Where Apps and SUV come together
Wherever your journey leads you, it will be more adventurous and sage with Android Auto CarPlay in Pajero Sport. Simply connect your smartphone Link Display Audio by a USB cable and phone calls, navigation, sending and receiving messages, and listening to music will come alive on your built-in display screen. Maps are automatically updated. So you don’t need to update Maps anymore. Voice command keeps your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Technology & Convenience
No Keys, Absolute Ease
Life is much easier with Keyless Operation. You simply approach the vehicle with the keyless fob in your pocket, handbag or wherever’s convenient, and it’s ready for your next ride. You don’t even need to find the keys to start the vehicle. One push of a button is all it takes.
Keep Your Hands On The Wheel
Operating the audio system, cruise control or using Bluetooth is simple and safe, thanks to the steering wheel mounted controls. Make calls, change songs or travelling speed, all by barely lifting a thumb.
Open the tailgate and anything you need to stow just slots right in, thanks to 673 litres of very useable space. IF you need even more space, the rear seats fold down quickly and easily.
To make Pajero Sport as manoeuvrable as possible, its turning circle is a surprisingly small 11.2m. You’ll find this a very convenient feature in tight city streets, parking buildings or narrow tracks.
The Safety Mitsubishi we have ever made
Mitsubishi have a strong reputation for making safe vehicles through innovation. Pajero Sport incorporate an entire integrated system of features to elevate your safety to the next level.
The emphasis on safety begins with the choice of high-tensile steel, shaped into a stiff energy-absorbing Mitsubishi RISE body. Built into the body is an array of active and passive safety features that keep the passengers safe as well as pedestrians. The end result is a 5 Star ANCAP safety rating and a level of reassurance you’ve never experienced in an SUV.
Safety Systems include:
- Safety up front with Forward Collision Mitigation (VRX)
- Blind Spot Warning (VRX)
- Multi Around Monitor (VRX)
- Ultrasonic Mis-Acceleration Mitigation System (VRX)
- Electronic Park Break
- Daytime Running Lights
- Hill Start Assist
- Active Traction Control
- Active Stability Control
- ABS Braking
- Electronic Brakeforce Distrabution
- Airbags for all passengers
Engine And Transmission
One serious engine
IF you want the best of both worlds, this is happy to oblige. On the output side, it produces an impressive 135kW of power and 437Nm of torque, which will take any journey or terrain in its stride. In terms of efficiency, official test results achieved 8.0L/100km as an average measure of efficiency. I’s all down to the clever use of four cylinders and 2.4L DiD Diesel Engine.
Boldly tow 3.1 tonnes
Power and torque are important considerations where towing is concerned, which is why new Pajero Sport can tow 3.1 tonnes, no sweat (braked tow capacity). But safety is equally important, which is why there’s Trailer Stability Assist to keep your load in line.
8 Speed Transmission For Absolute Control
To ensure you make the most of the engine’s output, and for optimal grip in different terrain, there’s a smooth 8-speed transmission.
There’s a deeper gear ratio in low gear for greater driving force and improved acceleration.
In higher gear, the ratios are shallower for lower engine revs to provide better economy and less noise from the gearbox.
Save Fuel When Standing Still
The Idle Neutral Control reduces internal oil pressure to first gear when you’re stopped nut the engines running. After all, there’s no point using more fuel than you have to.

Luxury high-tech SUV builds on the legend
‘Start a new year as you plan to continue’ is a pretty good motto for anyone, in life or in business.
Mitsubishi Motors enthusiastically anticipates 2016 on two fronts. Delight at its dealers’ unabated six-year sales growth. Excitement at the early January arrival of a striking, highly-equipped, muscular SUV that, Mitsubishi says, inherits and builds upon the best of the legendary Pajero’s exceptional engineering.
Every single month since the turn of the decade, the brand’s dealers have eased more customers into their own new Mitsubishi than in the previous year’s equivalent month. The imminent all-new Pajero Sport will further hasten the momentum, says Mitsubishi’s head of sales and marketing strategy Daniel Cook.
“This is a premium new-generation SUV’, he says, “with luxury features and a sumptuous interior complemented with a full high-tech safety catalogue and the superb, class-leading all-terrain performance that stems from its Pajero heritage.
“In every respect this is one of Mitsubishi’s most advanced vehicles ever, and one of the safest. We anticipate huge interest”.
In Mitsubishi’s new SUV line-up, the Pajero Sport slots between Pajero and Outlander.
While outwardly echoing its stablemates’ ‘dynamic shield’ front fascia design, this elite, stylish yet rugged 5-star-safety-rated SUV sits in a class very much its own, matching exceptional refinement with unprecedented cutting edge technology in safety, economy, communications and 4WD systems.
Pajero Sport incorporates many firsts for a Mitsubishi vehicle, such as its 8-speed auto transmission, hill descent control, blind spot warning system, off-road mode, electric parking brake and high T centre console.
Powering Pajero Sport is the punchy 2.4 litre 437 Nm MIVEC turbodiesel, mated to the 8-speed auto to achieve an optimal balance between power, fuel economy and quietness. Extra-low gears stand ready to confidently inch through difficult terrain.
Notwithstanding its healthy reserves of power Pajero Sport achieves exceptional 8L/100km economy: aiding in that objective is the ‘idle neutral control’, which automatically disengages the torque converter when you’ve stopped but the engine hasn’t.
Drivers fond of putting their Pajero through its paces off road will quickly see what’s gone into further developing Mitsubishi’s legendary Super-Select 4WD system, which now adds hill descent control and off road mode that lets you dial in specific surfaces for maximum traction.
Tow capacity is all you’d expect: up to 3,100 kg braked, with trailer stability control constantly on guard to minimise the risk of a poorly-loaded trailer causing dangerous sway.
On VRX, active safety features include blind spot warning, forward collision mitigation and four-camera around view monitoring that gives a bird’s eye view of the vehicle’s perimeter.
Adding further safety is the ultrasonic mis-acceleration mitigation system which, when stationary or below10 km/h, detects obstructions and regulates engine power if by mistake the driver heavily depresses the accelerator.
While Pajero Sport’s built to keep its 18-inch sculpted wheels in close contact with the rocks, gravel or tarmac you’re negotiating, its fully-integrated communications system keeps you constantly in touch with all your conversations, music and map apps.
Whether iPhone or Android is your thing, the Smartphone link display audio helps you stay totally connected. Smart, safe and simple, it allows Android Auto or Apple CarPlay to run through the car’s display audio screen, presenting a familiar Smartphone interface. Phone calls, music, navigation (with maps always up to date) and messages all come to life on the 7-inch display screen.
You can use all that Bluetooth offers too, of course, voicing and listening to messages and texts hands-free, and playing content you’ve stored on USB and HDMI devices.
While Pajero Sport takes its cue from a legend, it’s set to find its own place in motoring history and in the lives of adventurous New Zealanders when, from January, it sits between Mitsubishi’s Outlander and Pajero.
