CVT keeps the engine close to its level of peak efficiency while the advanced adaptive INVECS III transmissions tailors its response to the drivers particular driving style. In addition, the 6-speed Sports Mode allows you to select and hold and chosen gear ratio. VRX drivers can use the steering wheel paddle shifters to change gear without releasing the wheel. |

Rise Body
Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) unibody design is a highly rigid shell where the super-strength cabin acts as a safety cage. In the event of an accident, the impact-absorbing crushable zones and reinforced critical points, along with the lower centre of gravity, all combine to deliver superior safety performance. Airbags
All modern Lancers come equipped with SRS airbags to provide protection in the event of a collision. Driver and front passenger have front and dual-stage airbags. All Lancers excluding ES, have side and curtain airbags for front and rear passengers to protect from side-impact collisions. All Lancers also feature a driver knee airbag that works in unison with pretensioners seatbelts with force-limiters to protect the legs and pelvis from injury. |
Cornering
The new Lancer was designed for winding roads and tight corners. As well as Active Stability Control (ASC) and Active Traction Control (ATC) providing superior road handling and control, the Lancer’s ABS system gives you enhanced manoeuvrability under braking. All Lancer models come with all-wheel independent suspension featuring MacPherson struts with coil springs, front and rear stabilisers and front suspension brace for responsive cornering and straight-line stability.

Active Stability Control
Active Stability Control provides the driver with greater control in tough cornering situations reducing the chance of under-steer or over-steer by adjusting engine power and applying the brakes independently on each wheel. The result – a tighter safer drive. |
Active Traction Control (ATC)
ATC is an intelligent system that automatically controls engine output so that driving wheels are prevented from spinning. When it senses loss of traction in an independent wheel it automatically applies braking force to that wheel while sending extra power to other wheels with traction to keep it moving. |
Mutlti-Mode Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
Lancer’s intelligent 4-channel, 4-sensor braking system monitors different wheel speed and activates brakes to individual wheels when required. It allows you to keep manoeuvrability under heavy braking and slippery road conditions. |
